Handmade is a ‘Boutique city centre music and arts festival’. Essentially this means that it’s a small-ish, three day, indoor music and arts event which takes place in Leicester, UK.
Our festival name is a metaphor (sort of) for the way it’s programme is put together, and the spirit in which the festival is run. We don’t have anything against crafts, but we’re all about Music, Comedy, Art, Film, Photography and Performance. You would actually be amazed how often people ask us this.
Handmade 2018 will take place on the weekend of the 5th & 6th May. It’s a bank holiday. We’ll publish door times and suchlike when we get nearer the festival
Handmade takes place at O2 Academy Leicester, University of Leicester Student Union and Attenborough Arts Centre.
All tickets must be exchanged for a wristband. Please check back nearer to the festival for wristband collection information
Handmade Festival does not allow children under the age of 8.
Under 14s must be accompanied by an adult.
Handmade is incredibly accessible for disabled gig goers. Check our Access information for more help.
Handmade has, from it’s inception, aimed to be an inclusive and safe place for it’s audiences. We want our venues and events to be places where you can enjoy yourself. If you have any concerns, if you feel in danger, or if you see or experience anything that you do not think is appropriate behaviour, please feel comfortable approaching any of our staff or security. Alternatively you can tweet at us or Facebook message us and we will respond as soon as we’re able.
Leicester’s rail and coach stations are both a short walk away.
East Midlands Trains run services from London in the south, Leeds in the north and stations in between.

Handmade recommends The Belmont, one of the closest hotels to the festival site.
We also encourage couch-sharing and will post details of how you can get involved on our Facebook and Twitter page closer to the festival.
Handmade hosts a number of Food stalls and several bars.
Unfortunately as part of our arrangement with O2 Academy Leicester you may not bring your own food or drink on to the site.
Yes – But large bags may not be permitted on site and cannot be accommodated by the cloakroom. What’s a large bag? Anything bigger than a handbag, small satchel or small rucksack (we’re talking eastpack size here). All bags may be subject to a search on entry.
