Handmade Festival prides itself on being as accessible as possible to deaf and disabled audience members. Below we have outlined as much as we can about access to the venues, but feel free to contact us at the address below.
We’ve summarised the information for both venues below, as well as any additional information we think would be helpful, but both our venues have in-depth access information available online.

Handmade Festival is an indoor event which takes place at O2 Academy Leicester, University of Leicester Students Union and Attenborough Arts Centre. Areas outside of the stages are well lit, and there is flat access in to, or lift access between all the public areas of the festival.
There are four stages within the Percy Gee Building (O2 Academy 1, O2 Academy 2, Scholar Bar and The Cave) and one at Attenborough Arts Centre. All stages within Percy Gee are less than 50 meters apart. Attenborough Arts Centre is 500 meters away. This is the maximum distance between two performance ares.
Due to a broken life there is no flat access to Cave this year.
Guests requiring lift access to O2 Academy 2 should contact a member of staff or security.
Accessible parking is possible on site, but it is best to book in advance (see below)

Free tickets are available for a personal assistant or support worker to accompany you to Handmade Festival. The tickets can be collected from the box office on presentation of evidence as to their necessity.
If you require us to provide you with a chaperone to enable access to some of the disabled facilities for the day, we may be able to do so.

There is various accessible parking available on site, at various distances from the festival entrances. It is best to email us in advance at firstname.lastname@example.org so that we can arrange for spaces to be reserved for you.
The main O2 Academy 1 venue has a viewing platform for up to three wheelchair users and O2 Academy 2 has a viewing area at the rear of the venue. We advise that you book in advance to reserve space by emailing email@example.com
TAXIS / PICK-UP SET DOWN
Taxi Drop off / Pick up/set down is available immediately adjacent to the entrance of the festival.
Leicester Railway station is 1.2 km (0.8 miles) from the festival site.
Leicester Bus and Coach Station is approximately 2.4km from the festival site.
UniLinks buses run from the city centre to the festival site periodically.
Please see ticketing information for site opening times, as it may vary on a day-to-day basis.
If you have pre-booked any services, or if you require assistance on arrival at the site, an on-the-day contact number is available by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
The box office / wristband exchange will be clearly sign posted on arrive at the festival site. It is immediately adjacent to the pick-up / set down point.
Should you require assistance at any point during the festival please don’t hesitate to contact any of our volunteers who you will find at the box office, merchandise area and at entrances to wristbanded areas of the festival site.
Both our venues are well equipped with accessible toilets throughout the building. These are well sign-posted, but should you require any assistance please don’t hesitate to ask a member of the Handmade or O2 Academy staff.
Both venues have accessible changing rooms and showers.
Both venues have trained first aiders on site.
At this point we are unable to offer sign language, captioning or audio description services, but we’re working towards being able to provide this. If you think this would be helpful for you, please let us know.
Attenborough Arts Centre has an Induction Loop system in all rooms. Turn hearing aids to the ‘T’ position.

Strobe Lighting may be used throughout performances. If this is an issue for you, please let us know and we may be able to advise on when and where it will be used, and if it’s possible for it to be minimised during specific performances.
